The Woven Bodies 1-(Persian Rug -Kurdish Design)

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut bibendum tortor sit amet ligula rutrum, at porta tortor convallis ...

I researched internally from my body and soul. I ask myself, how am I being affected by what I am experiencing in my social-political time and place, as an Iranian female artist? What distortion is happening within my psychological narratives? How could my beliefs, my sensitivities, and my background empower me to overcome the distortions and internal conflicts happening within me? What is the connection between my body, its pain, and my lived experience? My research is strongly connected to what is happening in the land I am coming from, Iran. Observing the traumatized bodies of people there, and the government oppression, I reflect my unsettledness in that land. Experiencing my body woven in pains and suffering, and bringing its feelings into my art practice, I use the cultural elements which are connected to the people of my homeland, such as Persian Rugs. Far from my land, Persian Rugs bring the meaning and feeling of home to me. In my country, Persian rugs are woven in different regions, People use their bodies to weave Persian rugs, and each community brings its cultural elements, its daily life, and its environmental conditions into the rugs. There is no difference in where the people are coming from, and what is their economic, and social level situation, every family has at least one Persian rug in their home. It could be from any region, it could be a cheap one or an expensive one, but there is at least one Persian rug in every home in Iran. Also, in some cities in Iran, people cover their loved ones' dead bodies in Persian rugs before burying them. In the everyday news, you see Persian rugs in the homes of people who have lost their loved ones and their children..., They sit on the rugs... They mourn on the rugs. For the Woven Bodies project, I incorporated my body’s silhouette from the Evanescence Archival Performance Series to make the floral patterns of Persian rugs, by digital collage in Photoshop. (The Evanescence Archival Performance Series is a photograph series conveying kinship through land and identity. Around 700 photos were taken while I was moving unconsciously with a Persian carpet covering my body. This series brings the unsettlement, isolation, and suffering, of my body's pains, into the work.)
